Letty dreams of being a star, to sing in godberse of large crowds and see her name up in lights. Actually, I found his kindness toward his long-lost daughter a bit odd and untrustworthy.
Three intriguing central characters, great descriptions of New York in the Roaring Twenties, and Anna Godberson’s beautiful writing style mean this is one to savour. And sleeping til the wee hours of the afternoon. Charlie was sweet and I understood that he meant well. It leaves those of us who grew up with the classics and the never-ending, Dickensian style run-on sentences bereft.
Overall, these well thought out plots and characters will make for an enjoyable read.

This is probably why I can’t give this a 4, though, there’s less drama in this book than The Luxe. Since the story seems to be told from her point of htings the most, I struggled with it. NYC in is a buzzing metropolis of fashionable flappers, bootlegging businessmen and a clash of classes. And I was right. Believe me Doll, you need this book!

Unfortunately I had a bunch of prior obligations to tend to while goung this one, so I didn’t get to devour it in a few hours for the optimum experience like I’d preferred. As far as plot goes, it was fast.

I was all set to hand over a four star rating for this book She loved the idea of driving in a car with a boy like that. Quotes from Bright Young Things. Astrid, Cordelia, and Letty. The characters feel real, the setting is atmospheric, and the stories are a nice getaway. Though Cordelia and Letty come to the city with quite different goals, they have naivety in common.
She’s the golden girl, the princess in the tower. Bright Young Things needed a Penelope, a snarky trouble maker. She’s four feet tall and has a mental age of five.
