Let’s get back to the review. I really liked the Esmond’s redemption and having a main character that wasn’t European for a change. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next case I comment.

The hero and heroine are both interesting and somewhat unusual characters. The third book in the series is Lord of Scoundrelsbut the ties between it and Captives lortta the Night are extremely minimal, which would explain why I was able to read Lord of Scoundrels without really feeling like anything was missing.

We can even get them ready-grown, if we wish. That she is frighteningly perceptive and sees things in him that others don’t appear to doesn’t help. Romance is just fluff, fills the ride. What a great way to start the morning. Francis bukan hanya seorang pemadat dan doyan main cewek, ternyata juga seorang manipulator ulung yg cuase dan pemeras kelas kakap. I was at the brink of dnfing it many times but the mystery and the hero kept me reading on. While I love LOS, some of her earliest books are a bit weak for me. I can’t remember if I read this one or not. And yet they have to work together and she slowly begins to unpick his story and find out more about him, much against his will. She’s all surly, aloof resistance lofetta he’s all courtly, guilty devotion.

She was capptives moonlighting as a video scriptwriter. Captives of the Night had one of the most disagreeable heroines I’ve had the misfortune to find in romance. As for the other characters, I didn’t or have much respect for any of them. It’s a delightfully realistic take on two people finding each other and giving themselves a second chance in happiness.

He first met and was enchanted with the beautiful artist in Paris, but while Francis normally cared little for all the men fawning over his wife, knowing that his constant digs at her and his own behaviour had pretty much put Leila off men entirely, he was extremely jealous about D’Esmond’s attentions lf her. Nov 29, Laura Kyahgirl rated it really liked it Shelves: While Ismal succeeds at toppling Beaumont’s empire, he finds himself dangerously attracted to the man’s estranged wife, Leila.

That didn’t sit well with me. I was simply ghe able to fully grasp what each of them was attracted to in the other, except that they seemed like two peas in a pod with rather similar personalities, perhaps too similar.

Reading is the best as always. My favorite Loreyta book ever! The short answer is yes – but you’ll certainly enjoy a bigger understanding of Ismal’s character if you manage to get your hands on Lion’s Daughter first.

I also appreciated the tangled mystery in this one.

As it should be! I will read listen again and again. I really prefer when the author of a mystery leaves a trail of breadcrumbs for me to follow, so that I can attempt to figure out the bad guy for myself.

This was a good but not great read. I had to buy LOS on ebook.

The attraction is mutual, but Leila refuses to be unfaithful to her husband, however little she loves him. If I hadn’t experienced it, I wouldn’t cwptives believed it was possible. Now you have to answer my questions! Thanks chsse telling us about the problem. Can you say right up my alley? I think I’ll just begin the series with book 2 in the future. Unraveling all the horrible shit her husband had done, and how it involved all these other people Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read.

I suffered through almost all of this, the only L. This is on my re-read list.
