His work is marked by keen intelligence and wit, a profound awareness of social injustice, an intense opposition to totalitarianism, a passion for clarity in language, and a belief in democratic socialism.

The odium of his personality prevented me from enjoying this book, which has some merit.

Another thing that subtracted a couple of stars from my rating for this memoir was my perceived insincerity on Llondonu part.
