Such is my admiration for the first book in this trilogy: Books by Robertson Davies. I finished Hermann Hesse ‘s Steppenwolf just before I read The Manticore and felt like Hesse was just beating me over the head with his Jungian psychology throughout the entire story.

David Staunton talks a lot about the past, but he doesn’t really want anything in the present. There is no rational way to choose between the two perspectives; the facts fit either.
